Rob Knott Managing Director | Lausam Pty. Ltd / Sign-Pro / Corporate ID

With over 40 years of experience, Rob Knott is a veteran of the design industry, known for stretching the boundaries of innovation and corporate identity. As the Managing Director of Lausam Pty. Ltd, Sign-Pro, and Corporate ID, Rob oversees a global design business with a distinguished track record.

History

Rob’s career began early; by age 16, he had already won the Council Art Award and the title of "Best School Artist" (1970–1973). At just 17, he became the youngest Marketing Manager in Australia for Repco Auto Parts. In this role, he oversaw showroom and trade exhibition designs for Repco and its subsidiaries—including the Formula 1 winning Repco Brabham and Finlec Tyre Co. Sweden—and managed major national campaigns like "Guess Who Is On The Moon."

By the 1980s, Rob had launched his own business, quickly securing high-profile contracts. His portfolio includes artwork broadcast to millions during the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games and campaign concepts for major motorsport events, such as the Foster’s Adelaide Alive Grand Prix and the "Roar by the Shore" Gold Coast Indy.

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Rob secured over 10 national awards. His diverse expertise led to major commissions, including:

  • Casino & Gaming: Hand-lettering room numbers in 24-carat gold for the Country Club Casino opening and supplying high-end presentation materials for Federal Hotel Casinos, Crown Casino, Aristocrat, and IGT.
  • Media & Television: Creating airbrush graphics for the Nine Network (60 Minutes, Worldwide Sport) and special effects for US film and television reaching audiences of 20 million.
  • Motorsport Liveries: Designing for industry giants such as Peter Brock, Dick Johnson Racing, Nissan, Toyota, and the Bob Jane Corporation.

In recent years, Rob has been instrumental in establishing Tasmania’s top visitor attractions, including the $30 million ABT Railway. His firm has delivered innovative concepts for blue-chip clients like Qantas, Medibank Private, BHP, and Coles. Notable fabrication projects include the award-winning stainless steel entrance for Hotel Charles, the Lion Nathan Boags container bar, and the state’s largest residential fountain.

Rob’s vision extends internationally, having provided design concepts for the Palazzo Versace in Dubai and the Pearl Harbor Visitor Centre in Hawaii. Locally, he developed Tasmania’s premier privately owned luxury estate—as featured on Sky Business News—and fabricated specialized props for a record-breaking production of The Phantom of the Opera.

Rob frequently travels overseas to ensure his work remains at the forefront of global design trends and world-class presentation standards.
